Celtic run riot at Tynecastle

Kris Commons takes the plaudits after opening the scoring in the Tynecastle rout

Celtic took out their UEFA Champions League frustrations at Tynecastle, blowing away an inexperienced Hearts side 7-0 to reach the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Having lost out to AC Milan in midweek to crash out of continental competition for another season, the cup holders ran riot in Edinburgh with Kris Commons bagging a hat-trick in an imperious display on Neil Lennon's 200th game in charge of the club.

Three minutes had elapsed when Joe Ledley fed Commons down the inside-left channel and the midfielder fired beyond Jamie MacDonald and in off the far post.

The home side - with no outfield player over the age of 22 - was caught napping as Charlie Mulgrew picked out Commons (21) with a quickly taken free-kick and the Scotland international cracked in his second from the angle.
