Lawro's predictions

“David Moyes will be hoping that Robin van Persie will be fit, but that situation is worrying too”

When you see the scoreline of Manchester United's defeat by Everton in black-and-white, you think 'crikey, they have lost again at home'.

But United did not play that badly and they had as good, if not better chances to win the game.

Still, it showed us again that Old Trafford is not the fortress it was, and defeat puts the pressure back on United boss David Moyes.

By the looks of things, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool all in decent form, United face a big fight just to get into the top four and clearly lots of work needs to be done to improve their squad.

Moyes will not be helped by having Wayne Rooney suspended for this game after he picked up his fifth booking of the season against Everton.

He will be hoping that Robin van Persie will be fit, but that situation is worrying too.

Moyes says it is not a serious injury but Van Persie has missed four games now. It is obvious how important he is to United, and they need him back soon.

Newcastle do not appear to be in great shape themselves, either. They had won four Premier League games in a row before playing Swansea on Wednesday but they were completely unhinged in Wales.

Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Jim's prediction: 2-0
