Hearts v Inverness preview

Richie Foran: Outside chance of playing at Easter Road on Sunday

Richie Foran has an outside chance of making his Inverness comeback in Sunday's League Cup semi-final against Hearts at Easter Road.

The 33-year-old skipper has not played since December 21 after injuring a shoulder against Aberdeen.

Defender Josh Meekings is expected to be available after suffering a blow to his head in last weekend's league clash with Kilmarnock.

Caley manager John Hughes, looking ahead to the cup tie, said: "We are injury-free, suspension-free and Richie is back training so I am really looking forward to Sunday.

"Hand on heart, yes, I think it is too early, but it is Richie Foran we are talking about. He is a different animal from most."

As for Meekings, he added: "He has got a bit of a black eye, I think he has got nine stitches.

"I think he got his stitches out on Friday so he will play on Sunday, unless the hospital says 'no'."

New signing Paul McCallum, meanwhile, could make his Hearts debut in the midday kick-off.

The young striker joined on loan from West Ham on Thursday and will give the beleaguered club some extra options in attack.

Midfielder Ryan Stevenson is back following a two-game ban while the only new injury worry concerns goalkeeper Jack Hamilton who has suffered a minor knock.

Jason Holt and Jamie Walker remain long-term casualties.
